What’s included

  • What you can choose Everything in the All-Inclusive Pass is open to you here too. That means the observation decks at the Empire State Building (86th floor), Top of the Rock, Edge and One World Observatory. Add the ferry to Liberty Island and Ellis Island, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, MoMA, the American Museum of Natural History, the Guggenheim, the Whitney, the Intrepid Museum, Circle Line, Big Bus and a range of walking and guided tours. You can use each attraction once.
  • 30 days for your plans You can activate the pass up to one year after buying it. The 30 days run from the first attraction you visit. That leaves room for breaks, and on a rainy day you simply head to a museum.
  • Time slots in the Go City App For the big sights you book a time slot in the app. For the Empire State Building you can book up to 30 days ahead, for the 9/11 Museum up to 14, for Edge and Top of the Rock up to 10 and for the Statue of Liberty up to 7 days in advance. According to Go City, MoMA and the Natural History Museum need no reservation.
  • When the pass pays off Single prices according to Go City: Edge about $69, Top of the Rock about $65, Empire State Building (86th floor) about $57, 9/11 Museum about $36, Statue of Liberty ferry about $26. Three observation decks and the 9/11 Museum add up to around $226. Compare that with the price for 4 attractions shown above. The pricier your picks, the more you save.
  • Not on the list Go City does not offer SUMMIT One Vanderbilt or The Met. If you want SUMMIT, take the Explorer Pass as a combo ticket with SUMMIT at Tiqets. At the Empire State Building, the 102nd floor and the sunset time slot cost extra in the app.

Reasons to skip it

  • No SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, no Met.
  • Every attraction counts the same. Using a slot on a cheap museum wastes it.
  • Only the 86th floor at the Empire State Building. The 102nd floor or sunset costs extra.
  • You can only book time slots for popular places after buying, and according to Go City they go quickly.

Who the pass suits

Our pick for most visitors. You already know what you want to see and would like to spread it out calmly over several days? Then the Explorer Pass is the right choice. It works best for a week with four or five big sights. You get the most out of it with the expensive observation decks. Cheap museums are better paid for separately. If you want to tick off as much as possible in two days, go for the New York Pass.

Frequently asked questions

Which New York Pass should I buy?
For most visitors, the New York Explorer Pass: you pick three to six sights and spread them over up to 30 days. If you want to see a lot in two to four days, The New York Pass® is cheaper. If SUMMIT One Vanderbilt is a must on your list, book the pass as a combo ticket with SUMMIT or take the Headout New York Pass.
Is SUMMIT One Vanderbilt included in the New York Pass?
No. None of the Go City passes includes SUMMIT, not the New York Pass, the Explorer or the Essentials, and CityPASS® does not have it either. The way around it: Tiqets sells the Go City passes as a combo ticket with SUMMIT, with 5% off both parts. In the Headout New York Pass you can choose SUMMIT as a premium attraction.
Is there a discount code for Go City?
Yes: NYPCITYVERG05. It takes 5% off the Explorer Pass, Essentials Pass and New York Pass on gocity.com. Enter the code at checkout. It does not work at Tiqets, Headout or GetYourGuide.
Can I cancel a Go City pass?
Yes, if you buy directly from Go City. According to Go City, you get your money back within 90 days of purchase as long as the pass has not been activated. If you buy through Tiqets, cancellation is not possible according to Tiqets. Headout and GetYourGuide have their own rules.
Which is better, CityPASS® or Explorer Pass?
With both you buy a set number of attractions. The Explorer Pass has the bigger list, including One World Observatory, MoMA, Big Bus and many tours, and gives you 30 days. The CityPASS® is valid for nine days, but it takes you up the Empire State Building twice in one day and charges the child price for teenagers up to 17. The table shows which one is cheaper for your number of attractions.
Do I have to reserve in advance?
Yes for the Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, Edge, the Statue of Liberty ferry and the 9/11 Museum. One World Observatory needs no reservation with Go City. Go City uses the Go City App for this, CityPASS® the My CityPASS® app. With the Headout Pass you reserve each attraction separately after buying. With Go City, many museums need no reservation.
From what age do you pay the adult price?
Go City: from 13. Children (3 to 12) have their own price. CityPASS®: from 18, children are 6 to 17. C3® and C-All®: again from 13. Headout Pass: adults 13 to 99, children 5 to 12.
Can I go up to the crown of the Statue of Liberty with the pass?
No. Go City and CityPASS® cover the official ferry, the grounds of Liberty Island and Ellis Island, the museums and an audio guide. For the pedestal and crown you need a ticket directly from Statue City Cruises.
Is the 102nd floor of the Empire State Building included?
No, not in any pass. Go City, CityPASS® and Headout take you to the 86th floor. If you want to go higher or up at sunset, Go City charges extra in the app.
